Toward the beginning of Jesus’ final prayer over his disciples after the last Supper he says, “Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.” Since eternal life is possibly the most important thing we can have, it might be worth looking at what it means to know God and Jesus.
